The 06 Gallery exhibition programme is used to extend curricular and extra-curricular opportunities for our students at John Mason and other schools within the Abingdon Partnership.
Our aim is to strengthen arts experiences for children, young people and the wider community and develop local interests and enthusiasm for visual art.
As part of its community plans John Mason School offers regular opportunities for the public to engage with exhibitions in the 06 Gallery through talks, family days and special events.
Highlights of the year include the Student Showcase (held in October) where a professional, framed exhibition of student Art & Design work from years 7 to 11 is used to celebrate personal endeavour, progress and passion for the arts. Visitors get the chance to cast a vote for their favourite piece and the winner receives the prestigious Showcase Award at Presentation Evening in December. In May, the A level students host their own exhibition to present their culmination of effort and hard work during their course. In between student shows, we host local and national artists and art groups (both amateur and professional) which are used in teaching lessons as well as supporting our community of artists and designers.
