English is a core subject taught throughout Key Stage 3 up to GCSE, after which students are able to choose to continue with their studies at AS and A Level.

Science

In order for all students to achieve academic excellence in science, we deliver a knowledge-rich curriculum.

Maths

Our goal is to engender in our students an appreciation of the intrinsic value of mathematics and this is apparent in our drive to see all students achieve mathematical confidence through developing a deep understanding of the subject.

Art & Design

Art and Design at all key stages encourages creativity in an environment where students are encouraged to experiment and explore ideas without fear of failure.Art and Design is so much more than self-expression, and we provide the opportunity to share our enthusiasm for the rich art history and culture our world has to offer.

Humanities

In Humanities we explore how people have created their world and how they, in turn, have been created by it.At John Mason School, Humanities consists of: Humanities (Year 7) History (KS3-5) Geography (KS3-5) RS (KS3-4) These subjects are linked together because they are all about human beings: how they live, how they work together, how they think, how they behave, their culture, values, beliefs, ideas and past.

Music

Music plays a central and much valued role in the academic and cultural life of John Mason School, and we were delighted to receive the Oxfordshire County Music Service Award for Innovation in School Music in 2019.Students of all levels and abilities are encouraged to participate in music, both in lessons and in extra-curricular musical activities.

Film and Media Studies

Film Studies is a popular and engaging subject offered at Key Stage 4 and A-Level Media Studies is offered at Key Stage 5Key Stage 4 Film Studies: EduqasGCSE Film Studies is designed to introduce students to a variety of cinematic experiences through films which have been important in the development of film and technology.
